Pattern: Rio Halter Top
The halter top has its roots in ancient Greece, but it was in the 1940s and 1950s that it became popular as a fashion statement, particularly in swimwear and casual wear. Its name comes from the halter-style neckline, which ties around the back of the neck, leaving the shoulders and upper back bare.
After its peak of popularity in the 1970s, my favorite decade of fashion, it never went out of style and is very present in current summer trends. Halter tops are casual, comfortable, and playfully sexy, which is why I chose this shape for my new summer pattern.
The Rio halter top is crocheted from top down and has a vertical striped texture added by the post double crochet stitches. It is simply chic, making it the perfect top for summer holidays.
